I’m sure many of you have been watching Lost over the past number of years and it’s been getting really interesting lately with the exposure of the smoke monster, the death of Jacob and so on.

So what do we know:

  1. The island is a glorified containment unit for ‘The Smoke Monster’
  2. The island cannot be found through traditional means
  3. Some of the island people are blessed with long lives
  4. There is evidence of an ancient culture on the Island as there are ancient temples and the remnants of large statues around
  5. There are rules between Jacob and The Smoke Monster (now John Locke) as if it is some sort of game (free will and choice seem to be at the crux of this game)

What if the Island is the pit spoken of in Revelation 9:1:

The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace.

The bottomless pit, was put in place to trap Abaddon otherwise known as Apollyon (probably Apollo from ancient Greece). Abaddon can refer to the place, Sheol or the the depths of Hell to the Hebrews; or as the Angel of the bottomless pit to Christians.  In the Coptic church Abatton is the Angel of Death (wasn’t this angel played by some form of smoke monster in the Film ‘The Ten Commandments?” ).

Anyway Revelation 20:2 goes on to say:

He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.

So is lost the end of this 1000 years of capture, Satan has been released to once again deceive the nations, just as he has been deceiving the cast of Lost for the past few years???

So what’s this got to do with Atlantis  and the Garden of Eden

Well perhaps they are all one and the same. Genesis tells us that the offspring of man and the devil will be at each others throats until the end of time on this rock because of the interbreeding that went on between humankind and angelkind. Because of this abomination humankind was expelled from the Garden of Eden and Satan was cast into the abyss.  Perhaps the makers of Lost tied all this together and decided that Atlantis, Hell and the Garden of Eden are one and the same. So with regards to point 2 above, the Island or The Garden of Eden cannot be found by mankind (not through traditional means anyway).

We also know that the tree of life existed in the Garden of Eden and that man lived for many hundreds of years before the flood also adding to the evidence that it may be the Garden of Eden, which existed before the great flood. This addresses point 3 above.

This flood is more than likely the same flood that is associated with the sinking of Atlantis (perhaps the Lost writers associated this with the end of the last ice age where water levels rose 150metres to todays levels and this is where the polar bear reference comes from?). There is also evidence of a lost culture on this Island that seems to have a Egyptian/Mesoamerican feel to it so perhaps they are suggesting that there was an anti-deluvian ancient civilisation there… Atlanteans perhaps???

So why the game, is this referring to the ancient battle between God and Satan, fighting for the right to human souls?

What do you think?  Is it going to get Biblical on us?
